The Colorado Air Quality Control Commission has been working for months now on a "Regional Haze Implementation Plan," that is designed to purify Colorado's air in regions outside the Denver belt. It has focused it's attention on areas around Steamboat Springs so that the haze in the air around Rocky Mountain National Park will be diminished, and Colorado will appear to tourists to be more pristine. However, this has placed a huge potential burden upon the residents of the Mountain counties and utilities firms. Not only that, the act is probably illegal at best.
Now this wouldn't be so interesting, except for the fact that Weld and Larimer Counties were recently abandoned from lawmakers from around the state as they sought a fair-minded repeal of emissions testing for this region. Mountain lawmakers and others basically told Senator Renfroe and others, "it's your problem, and you get air from the Denver area. So you need to pay this...and keep us out of it."
Now the shoe is on the other foot. When the enviro-wackoes decide to regulate the air not so close to Denver, it becomes an issue! Hmmm. So, why should we care? Well, perhaps a bit of back-scratching needs to emerge here. What if lawmakers from around the state started banding together under the banner of "leave my county air alone?"
It's almost amusing to watch some of these lawmakers run around wringing their hands, now that the issues Weld County has battled (such as having clean air, yet being forced to comply with unreasonable standards imposed by politicrats) is starting to spread further throughout Colorado. This is yet another perfect example of how encroaching government and socialism works. First, they take the cities, then the surrounding areas. But those who think they can camp out in the wilderness and be left alone will ultimately be attacked as well. Make no mistake. We are beyond the line in the sand, and it's time to push back...against governmental control at every level.
So, legislators from around the state, unite for freedom for a change. Create a veto-proof bill and step across the aisles to pass it. It will send a message, and that in itself will enable Colorado to breathe free; free of haze acts, enviro-tests, and unreasonable control. (Link here to associated article.)
