Osama Bin Laden has been killed, thanks to the efforts of the relentless U.S. Military and Intelligence workers. He was found in a mansion instead of a cave, and was residing comfortably in a beautiful section of Pakistan (Abbottabad), not far from Islamabad. The region is surrounded by Pakistani military, and yet U.S. teams (probably special operations) went in with two helicopters, killed Bin Laden, his son and a few others (including two couriers), recovered the body, and returned to Afghanistan with no loss of U.S. lives. Bravo!
While this will be a blow to Al Qaeda, it will not stop them. Recent disclosures of threats possibly linked to the group show potential harm if Bin Laden was captured or killed. One threat, comprised of 25 letters released, claim nuclear bombs are in place within the U.S., to retaliate (Link here to CBS story). Another threat released via Wikileaks indicates a "nuclear hellstorm" in Europe if bin Laden is captured or killed (Here's a link to that information).
It's obvious today is a great day, and our military and intelligence forces are to be commended! They have demonstrated their commitment to get their man. Pakistan is sure to be angered by our bold venture into the middle of their country, but they were not to be trusted either, no matter what Musharraf or any other Pakistani leader says. One thing is sure. Islamic terror will continue. Not Christian, nor Buddhist, nor atheist terror. It's all Islamic. The U.S. must continue to focus on this realm and regard it with suspicion, to diffuse the dangers our nation faces. Anything else is overly simplistic and short-sighted.

I like how this article warns about being distracted from the way forward after the assassination of an islamic figurehead. Even after the commendations to the intelligence community that are handed out, this article specifically indites muslim extremism for the perversion of faith that it is. Yet, repulsively, LoG and others want to sway the conversation to how horrible Christianity is. Shame on you all for not carrying on a worthwhile dialogue. The previous comments are reminiscent of sending a fool to fetch bread while the city burns. Muslim Extremism should be treated as a threat and enemy to the United States and should be dealt with as such. PERIOD. Since the extremist position has no recourse or attempts submission for debate, the perversion should be treated as a cancer that should be studied and removed. Plain and simple, while you are arguing about how much MPG's your prius gets, a muslim extremist will kill you since you are an infidel. Stop with the Christ bashing and move on to solving the problem. To summarize the simplicity of this article, BZ to the armed forces and do not 'F' with the US.

Lover of God, you are a fraud. First, the Founding Father's writings did not establish a national religion, but they did recognize a national faith. They all expressed that openly, including Jefferson and Franklin who were by far the most liberal members of the bunch. Secondly, 1 John says that you are to love your brother, and that includes those that you denigrate in the Christian Right. You are more quick to condemn them than Islamic radicals. If you are a lover of God, embrace your brother in Christ first. If not, go back and read your Bible until you get it.

Jesus never forced anyone to love Him. He never forced anyone to believe in Him.
The Holy Bible warns us to be ever wary of those that would deceive, or tempt us. I agree with you Bobby J. We all want the world we live in to be a pleasant place. We want it to be like heaven. That is our innate desire for the Holy Spirit. The truth of the matter is that this world is a battleground of good vs. evil. It is played out every day on many scales. Lucifer (satan) was (or is) an angel cast from heaven into the fiery pit by God, because Lucifer had challenged God. Lucifer walks the planet to this day. There are many who believe in him.
Prophecy unfolds around us this minute. For those that have eyes to see, and ears to hear.
I am saddened by the number of people who do not believe, or those that want to reconcile the Word to their own truth, for their comfort and convenience.
Observe with a keen eye and ears that listen, to what is happening now. It's all right there in the Bible.
Or not. I'll pray for you.

LOG , try a different screen name next time if you want to keep your faith to yourself.

Lover of God,
Certainly your relationship with Jesus is personal, there is no other way. With that being said, all Christians are part of a voluntary community that relies on the Holy Bible, both OT and NT as their guide. So there are some standards.
Having read the majority of the Holy bible at least one time, I have to disagree with your original assertion that all of us have a personality disorder becasue we are critical of our government and society. You said life is great and we should all just be happy. That’s the attitude I had before I read the Bible.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6: 12
This is just one of thousands of passages that speak of strife and struggle, far from the naïve utopian paradise you yearn for.

LoG,
Have you read the Bible?
You seem immature in your faith. I don't mean that as an insult. it's just some of the things you are saying don't really align with the Christian faith described in the Holy Bible.
Please understand that our fore-fathers intention on religion was based in the Judeo-Christian strife of the times, in Europe. Much of the strife pertained to Catholic vs. Protestant churches.
Many of "the Religious-Right-Republicans" (republican I am not), to which you refer, remember an America that still had prayer in school. There was not much debate on the existence of God. Moral standards were considerably higher, as was our graduation rates. The "good-old-days". We know, and remember, a better way. We are simply expressing a desire for a better world, more like the one we knew.
God bless you, and keep the faith.
Posted by: Dennis | May 04, 2011 at 08:48 PM
Can you read and understand?
It is truly so typical that when the religious right wants to deride the separation of church and state they use the term..."it's not specifically mentioned in the constitution." It IS specific...read the amendment. It is CLEAR the founders DIDN'T want the establishment of a religious nature backdooring its way into government. Which is EXACTLY what the religious right is trying to do. Do you deny that simple and visual fact?
The far right political, religious arm of the Republican party uses the Constitution in their rants. Unfortunately they don't see that they are doing their best to scrub the separation of church and state from that very document.(and don't give me that drivel that nowhere does the Constitution address that issue) The Founding Fathers wanted to make sure that a certain slant of some religion didn't overtake everyone's ability to worship as they see fit and that no one point of view would emerge and dominate.
And don't come back at me with specifics. I've said all I'm going to say. If you can't understand my faith, that's on you.
Jesus, help this poor soul to understand...my faith and religion are NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.
Posted by: LoverofGod | May 04, 2011 at 05:03 PM
To LoverofGod,
Nowhere in the Constitution does it mention separation of church and State. This term was taken from personal writings of Thomas Jefferson. With that being said, The First Amendment does a pretty good job of keeping things on “fair” terms.
Regarding your religious beliefs, tell me more about what you believe in. I could care less about evangelicals and to the religious people that get under your skin. I want to know about your understanding of The Christian God. Certainly collectivist of any stripe, even Christian collectivist get under my skin but this is another topic altogether.
What about your walk?
Posted by: Bobby J. | May 04, 2011 at 10:22 AM
The problem I have with evangelicals...they are always trying to get other christians to "see it their way."
Why do some(most)evangelicals try to convert you to their way of thinking? Religion and faith are very personal. I am offended when the religious right tries to pass itself off as the final authority. What makes them right and others wrong. Their holier-than-thou stance comes off as "I am chosen to lead, not you." The far right religious political machine tries to shame other christians into seeing it their way.
They throw their faith at others and expect you to follow or you are castigated.
I worship God privately. My faith is just that...faith...NOT fact. I'm not egotisical enough to throw my faith at you. Others make a living at it...still others make a political career out of it. It sickens me with their hypocrisy so visible.
Jesus(God)will have a very different view of them when they come to judgement. I'm sure Jesus(God)is cries when HE sees the way His words and deeds are "thrown out the window" when it is politically expedient. They talk a good game but are far, far from Godly in their actions.
I believe...the evangelicals shout, "if you don't believe the way I do, you're stupid, if you don't do what I say, you're stupid, if you don't follow me, you're stupid."
To say that clause isn't trying to be changed by the religious political right is to not "see with open eyes."
Most evangelicals see things the way they want and choose to not study, read and analyze what the document is really trying to accomplish. They need it to fit their world view.
They are wrong in doing that.
Answer your concerns about me? And don't come back at me with specifics. I've said all I'm going to say. If you can't understand my faith, that's on you.

To Truly Concerned American,
The info from Albert Pike is interesting however the Bible provides its own words on end times rather than Albert Pikes interpretation. You should read it directly for your self.
I am still very interested to learn about the god of which godLover speaks of.

LoG: Thankfully, I am a Christian so I have lots of optimism and hope for the future! I am enjoying this beautiful day given by God and am not afraid of man nor evil for I know what will ultimately become of my soul. But it sounds like you may be having some serious projection issues so please know you are in my prayers.
Please don't make the mistake of burying your head in the sand. Here is some illuminating reading for you to ponder, found it at calltodiscernment.blogspot.com:

9:51 PM - Why Announce Bin Laden's Death Now?
Of course now we are told by mass media to expect more terrorism in revenge. Is this one reason Bin Laden's death was announced NOW? Nothing with political overtones happens by chance. May 1 is key date for illuminists. Hitler was announced dead on that date. And of course such an announcement can't help but lift Obama's image for many fools. Even if it was true since when is it right for a President to order the death of anyone? With the US government instigating so-called revolution in one Arab country after another it seems we are being led straight into WW3.
Here is what Albert Pike envisioned for the third and final world war. "The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the "agentur" of the "Illuminati" between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion…We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time."
http://www.threeworldwars.com/albert-pike2.htm
Though he was an occultic Edgar Cayce predicted WW3 to begin in the summer of 2011. Whatever God's ultimate timeline is for the winding down of this age the birth pains are definitely on the increase. Troublesome times are ahead, especially for those whose spiritual foundation is not on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Wallow in your misery, self-doubt, selfishness, insecurity, isolation and bigotry.
You are members of a very small club. Enjoy each other's company because, unfortunately, that's all you've got in your life.
Don't sit in the dark for the rest of your life...the black helicopters filled with the New World Order troops aren't looking for you just yet.
I'm sorry that something happened in your life that turned you so sour to the beautiful world we live in. There are problems, sure, but the sun is shining brightly this morning. Open the front door and come out on the front step. Nobody will shoot you. Yet.

I just keep thinking about the FAST burial at sea.........Sounds fishy, oops. sorry, not nice to speak ill of the dead.............

Methinks the "powers that be" have held onto this breaking news flash for just such a time as this! Now no one will remember the faux long form birth certificate, the nosediving dollar, the skyrocketing unemployment rate, the hellish healthcare fiasco, nor the $5-plus per gallon gas nightmare being thrust upon us by this imposter-in-chief.
Maybe Americans are too attention-deficient and apathetic. Maybe Jugears will even get elected for another 4 years. I, however, am busy preparing for the economic armageddon that is looming on the horizon. Let those who have eyes, see! Let those who have ears, hear!

LoverofGod,
Did you personally see OBL's dead body? Do you implicitly trust the government? Why do you belittle those that have learned to be skeptical of the government. Did you know that our Constitution promotes this skepticism?
It is rare that the government reports the whole truth in matters like this.
I hope that OBL is dead and that justice has been served, but I too am skeptical. I am open minded and hopeful. I think it would have been better if they would have discreetly brought his remains back to the USA for formal verification, removing any doubt. In fact, that is the biggest reason for my skepticism.
Lighten up.

Must be to cover up the fake B.C. that a second grader can take apart the layering?? http://www.infowars.com/new-obama-birth-certificate-is-a-forgery/

My mistake. Bin Laden's grandchildren were not killed. However, his son was thought to be killed, according to Hilary Clinton's report.

Holy s**t!!! tyrant fooled has finally drunk the koolade.
I told my wife last night that before the end of the day today(Monday)that some nut job would proclaim that either 1) OBL was not killed and it's an Obama/Muslim coverup or 2) that OBL has been dead for years.
Wow, it's not yet 5pm and tyrant fooled has proven my prediction correct.
It is totally understandable that someone in our Greeley community, one that has about 32 conspiracy nuts within the city limits, would state one of the above predictions.
Congrats tyrant, you take first place in "who is the craziest person in Greeley" award.
Anyone trying for second place? I would imagine he/she will surface sometime this evening.
