Thanks to a Greeley Report reader for this commentary.
There are reasons one might have to vote Democrat, read the Lib Trib, or support the majority side of the District 6 school board. But the reasons don't make sense to most folks. The following is a perfect example of their reasoning.
Why I Voted Democrat
- I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.
- I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
- I voted Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
- I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves. Even though in Chicago last year, for example, guns were banned, but they still had over 700 murders...mostly by guns.
- I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.
- I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
- I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education and Social Security benefits.
- I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats see fit.
- I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.
- I voted Democrat because I think it's better to pay billions to people who hate us for their oil, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle or gopher.
- I voted Democrat because while we live in the greatest, most wonderful country in the world, I was promised "Hope and Change."
- I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my ..., it's unlikely that I'll ever have a sane point of view.

I vote for less government.
Less government = greater freedom.
I cannot think of a case where that is not true.

newbie,
Speaking of a 68 IQ, did you realize the Founding Fathers created the Republic to do exactly what you described? All votes are supposed to cancel one and other out, essentially creating gridlock. They did this to protect Liberty.
BTW I never ever vote Democrat, I only said what I said in my earlier post to illustrate why many people swing left rather than right. These people are basically independent, however the anti-abortion, pro-military murder, makes them vote Democrat. Ironically, many elected Democrats and Democrats Judges are anti-abortion, pro-military, anti cannabis...

Well I voted Democrat because I need to wallow in my self pity, and wish someone would give me a beating I so richly deserve!

Five democrats as well as me voted Democtatic so that the votes of dennis, powerball, tyrantfighter, mimi, godsgreeley, and brett(sam) would cancel the importance of their own votes, thus rendering them impotent. Which, of course, doesn't have anything to do with voting.
I also voted Democratic because I didn't want to be lumped in with the 68 IQ level of the VAST number of registered rethuglican voters.

I voted Democrat because Republicans are war mongers, interventionist and imperialist.
I voted Democrat because Republicans want government to have complete dominion of my lungs and womb.
I voted Democrat because Republicans want to install security cameras in my bedroom in an attempt to prohibit any sexual position that might violate the Old Testament.
I voted Democrat because there is no difference between the two party’s, however mama always voted Democrat so I do.
