Yesterday Greeley Report revealed the potential for state and local community leaders to sell out (literally) to large, multinational, communist-run organizations, in exchange for cash to run financially strapped bureaucracies. Who would do such a thing, and what profile of a leader might fit? You could look no further than current Greeley Mayor, Tom Norton.
Whenever Norton speaks, he's looking for ways to raise more money. His latest thought process in this direction would be to look at a "residential street utility fee" (not a tax, mind you, but a fee), to take more money from your pockets and put it into the hands of the city. Never mind the fact that the city receives tens of millions in annual revenue already. Norton is convinced there are ways of taking more, and his odious selection of potential revenue...is you.
Norton talks as if he wants to slash spending and regulation, but he has done neither to any significant degree. He wants to continue as many programs, pay as many bureaucrats, and get as many toys as possible. If you don't believe Greeley Report, just look at the newer hybrid Toyota Prius models being driven by city code enforcement personnel. Can you afford one of those? No. But Norton and Roy Otto think city employees are entitled to drive them, all at your expense.
It is this type of mindset that falls prey to the communist offers from China and others. Communists and socialists want to develop "foreign trade zones," and will pay handsomely for them. Cash-strapped politicians and bureaucrats see these offers as potential answers, so they can perpetuate social programs. What is lost? Freedom. Liberty. Integrity. In short, you lose whether through these trade zone developments or through higher taxes and fees.
It's time our politicians start to listen to the drumbeat of slashing spending, regulation, programs and entitlements. If they don't we must remind them during election season. We are watching, listening, and waiting. Either they make cuts, or they will be cut. It's that important.

Do not blame me, I voted yes for proposition 101!
