Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Tim Pawlenty and Rick Santorum all signed it. Mitt Romney and Herman Cain did not. Could it be the kiss of death for them? The Susan B. Anthony List has asked conservative presidential candidates to sign their pledge promising to nominate or appoint pro-life judges, and provide zero taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood for many years now. (The liberals are already pro-death, and the SBA List doesn't much bother with their ilk.) The pledge ferrets out those who pay lip service to life and those that actually plan to do something to support it. So far Romney and Cain are the two main contenders that have been exposed.
While liberals may not consider this to be a key factor in races (since their man is already entrenched and destroying America), it will be an early test of who can win and who will lose on the conservative side. RINO's need conservatives to win races whether they like them or not. Most conservatives are staunchly pro-life, and this pro-life pledge will be closely monitored by them. Conservatives despise liars, and want a candidate that will actually do something to preserve lives through funding and the judiciary in years to come. So, is this news? Yes! And it will probably hurt the candidates that fail to sign.
Even states as liberal as Colorado see this as a vital issue. When Ken Buck became embroiled in controversy regarding his pro-life views, it hurt him. Say goodbye to Cain and Romney. They didn't know which issues to choose, and they revealed their true colors. Genuine candidates are needed anyway, and not just the ones that use polling to select their morals of the week.
Interesting arguments Bobby J, though I can't say I agree, but one complaint. Jesus showed several different emotions in the New Testament, not just anger. The best example that comes to mind is that he showed sorrow when he wept at Lazarus' tomb.

Kinda looks to me like either side can justify his position with the Bible. This makes sense, particularly since the first two chapters of the first book contain contradictory accounts of creation.

Jesus turned the money changers table because they were disrespecting His house of prayer. It really had little to do with money. Do you think He would have turned the tables of prostitutes if they were there? Or abortionists?

Believe whatever you wish as to when life begins. I can respect both sides if thoughtfully supported. But if you believe that the election of a politician will do anything to save the life of an unborn child, you're being foolish.

Are you suggesting we prohibit all murder such as war or just certain murder such as abortion? Also how did you prioritize abortion over fiscal sanity? The New Testament has only ONE example of Jesus showing any emotion. This emotion was anger. Jesus flipped the money changers and called them a den of thieves.
Where in the NT did Jesus whip the abortion doctor? Where did Jesus place abortion prohibition as the highest Christian priority? When did abortion become the litmus test? Jesus had real anger when dealing with money changers who were stealing from the people every time the people attempted to purchase any goods to cloth and feed their Christian families. Starve the people, kill an unborn baby.

I am against abortion; however, I am not singular in focus. I have advocated that abortion issues be at the state level. If you understand the Constitution, then you can see that federal government has no business, pro or con, in abortion. I vote my conscience. I vote pro-life. That's my stand. I do not give in to compromise, unless I have no other options.
That being said, I will vote for any republican if I feel it will stop obama. He, and his destruction of our country, must be stopped. When eating an elephant...., eat it one bite at a time.
We, conservatives, are at war with liberals. Liberals have destroyed our country. They are the reason that we have not won a war since WWII. Their tax-and-spend policies have bankrupt our country. They are the reason we are turning into a Godless society that kills unborn infants.
It's funny. All the liberals get up in arms when God-fearing people vote their conscience, or stand up for their beliefs. 50 years ago this was not not an issue. Why do I get upset? When you've had a better life, country, and common morals; and a bunch of immoral athiests come along and take that away, then that is loss. This country needs an enema of the greatest proportions, or we will be facing our second civil war.

If you think your good government can prevent abortion then elect enough abortion prohibitionists to create and pass an anti-abortion law. Oh yea, how are you going to pay for this prohibition? Spend your time spreading the gospel because Jesus is the only one who can prevent abortion. Not your fat, bloated, ineffective, corrupt, power hungry, deceptive, inflationary enslavement government.

Fix the economy and tax code to create prosperity. Prosperity will reduce the demand for abortions. Your current protocol has not stopped one single abortion and you never will. The only thing you have done is created a political circus. We are in 4 wars, 14 T debt and the dollar is worth 1/1500th of 1 ounce of gold. Not only are you killing babies, you have killed the dollar and sound money.
Jesus was angered just one time in the Bible. He pulled out his whip and flipped the money changers table.

I hate the thought of abortion and I do not consider it an option however there are good ways to reduce abortion and then there are nonsensical ways that create a path of destruction.

There have been countless "pro-life" elected officials since the 1973 decision of Roe v. Wade. Not one has saved the life of a single unborn child through their respective offices. It's folly to devote your attention and resources to politicians who promise to protect the life of the unborn. You'll do better by the unborn children if you devote your attention and resources to organizations who lovingly encourage women not to terminate pregnancies.
Politicians have direct control over government spending, taxes, regulation, etc. I choose to focus on those issues.
