Rey, at best it is a gray area. McDonald vs. Chicago did not suspend the 2nd Amendment for Chicago, or Illinois. It simply conceded that some regulation of guns, the states, is permissible.
Also, I'm not sure that we are on the same page. My contention was that states cannot override the US Constitution. They did not in McDonald vs. Chicago; however close they did come.

The 2nd Amendment limits State and local governments to the same extent it limits the federal government. Our US Constitution cannot be superceded by any state or local government. Read the Constitution.

The Federal Constitution says NOTHING about whether a state-sanctioned school district may impose restrictions on the possession of guns on the district's property. Perhaps you should read the constitution. I'll give you a hint--the 2nd Amendment begins with the word "Congress." I don't think Congress did anything in this situation.

Any challenge to other similar bans has NEVER passed muster in court. The bans set by local boards have been allowed in each case thus far. So, why would D6's ban be any different.
Personally, given Reese's instability & apparent bipolar tendencies, I don't blame the other board members at all. I've heard of other entities in this community that cringe when they see Brett walking in with his gun, because you never know what mood he'll be in or when he'll snap.

SD6 is owned by the taxpayers. It falls under the Constitution in that the taxpayers afford it. On the other hand, it doesn't fall under the Constitution in that the Constitution grants the government no authority for such activity. Why would we trust something as important as our children's education to the government?
