Good to see you recognize that financial issues are #1. The question for conservatives is whether they'll nominate the candidate with the best chance of (a) being elected and (b) actually making some changes to reverse the ugly trends. The prominence of folks like Michelle Bachmann, Rick Santorum, and Sarah Palin suggests otherwise. These candidates present themselves as agents of Jesus whose job it is to end abortion (without any political means to do so) and stop the phantom "gay agenda." These are not serious people, nor are the people to whom they appeal.

Nobody will or could do what you believe is necessary to avert the predicted collapse (and we'll see about the wisdom of that prediction soon), so either you build your bunker, buy Glenn Beck's backpack of Armageddon supplies, and wait for the end; or, you support candidates who have a realistic chance of affecting incremental changes in the right direction. I'll choose the latter. Impose an income tax on the 47% who pay none, cut the capital gains and corporate rates, repeal overly burdensome regulation, and confront Medicare head-on. I'm young, and if a politician tells me that Medicare and/or Social Security will be reduced and means tested, I can live with and plan for that.

Rey,

Our pending economic crisis supercedes all other National concerns; whether they be moral, religious, racial, international or environmental. It is mathematically impossible to retire this debt within our children's lifetime.

Question#1: The value of our present day dollar is $0.15 to the 1967 dollar - How low will it go? With 22.3% real unemployment, any action to stave off inflation will further eliminate jobs (side-note: 25% unemployment during the Great Depression).

Question#2: With a current national debt in excess of $14.4 trillion, and only 53% of the nation paying income taxes, how long will it take to balance our budget?

Question#3: With eroding home values, unchecked inflation (will be here soon), climbing unemployment, and increasing regulation; what corporation (national or international) will invest in America?

I really can't believe that anybody sees anything but complete financial shutdown of the USD. We have too much real property, fixed assets and guns for any foreign country to physically take us over. They are doing it financially and through our own Constitution.

Question#4: Your dollar isn't worth the paper it is printed on. Somebody offers you an exchange rate that that gives you some hope. The exchange is for the Bancor, the new international currency. Do you take it?

Take it and America is gone.

I know you think I'm ignorant, but it's right there in front of your eyes. For those that have eyes to see, and ears to hear.

Check it out statistically. What other nation, in all of worlds history, has survived the level of debt that exists in our nation today. You are being fed a bunch of lies to deceive you into believing that there is a way out of this mess, without getting our hands dirty.

Know anybody that operates a business? Are they willing to purchase new equipment? Are they willing to expand geographically? Are they willing to take on new product lines? Are they hiring? No -no -no and no! You know why? They are clinging on for dear life. They dare not make a move while obama is in office. Can we survive 2 more years of frozen commerce? With this debt?

Did you know that for all of the "stimulus" money we expended, that we could have suspended corporate income tax for 8 years? How many jobs would that have created?

You go on thinking everything is going to be OK. Your federal government is counting on it. So are our enemies.

I want a conservative candidate who can win. This eliminates Ron Paul. I want a conservative with an IQ in excess of 80. This eliminates Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin. I want a conservative who, whatever his social positions, recognizes the need to spend all political capital on realistic fiscal/monetary solutions to our debt/deficit/entitlement debacle. This also eliminates Ron Paul, whose interesting prescriptions are about as realistic as me flying to Mars next week.

I like Mitch Daniels, but he's not running. Romney seems to have the IQ to understand and manage financial issues, but I'm on the fence as to whether he's a human or robot. And, sadly, the evangelicals in the GOP who think politics is a way of justifying their religious views, believe Mormons are members of a cult and thus disqualified from office. This probably keeps Romney and Huntsman on the outside looking in, even though both would have a decent shot against Obama. Pawlenty should have replaced Mr. Rogers on the TV show. He's a bit hollow for my liking.

Gary Johnson is an interesting dude, but I won't allow myself to be deluded into thinking he has any shot.

I also recognize that the Pres. is an overrated position. The composition of the House and Senate are very important.

Dennis--your predictions remain humorous, but it won't be long before you see that too.

Bobby J.

Quantitative easing and debt ceiling increase guarantee the system will NEVER self-correct.

Certainly the above practices reduce the dollar value. However as government reduces the value of dollar, division of labor and technology increase the value of dollar.

Essentially the value of dollar does not decreace as fast as they take it,however we never realize any increased efficiency. They are skimming the till. How much?

Yes this is a depressing scenario and not for the faint of heart.

Armed revolution will NEVER happen again. The first time, there was no central authority with bunker busters, SWAT teams and all the other trappings of the industrial warfare complex.

Dennis

Rey,

You didn't answer my questions.

Rey

How much of your valueless currency are you willing to wager on your doomsday predictions? More to the point, how much of that money have you given to people who've sold you that bill of goods? Obama will get reelected because a sizeable enough portion of the GOP insists on screening their candidates on their positions on gays and abortion. Or, they won't vote for a Mormon (Huntsman or Romney). What silly distractions.

Bobby J.

Dennis,

I understand your energy and concern however I thing your prediction is wrong.

THis system of fracional reserve banking is designed to go on forever so long as the following condition is met.

Peopel are willing to get up and work everyday.

An armed revolution will do no good becasue they have missles and airplanes, we have hunting rifles and otther toys.

Keep buying gold.
Reduce work hours and ambitions.
Dont buy more!
Cheat on every tax possible.
Vocally protest every step of the way.

Dennis

Powerball,

I understand your sentiment. Our country is on the brink of its demise. Now I am sure that all of the "level-headed" liberals of "sound mind" that chastise, deride and criticize my comments will jump all over this and call me "chicken little", but here goes -

There is an inevitable complete collapse of our economy coming, before the end of 2012. America is a low-hanging, over ripe fruit ready to be harvested. This will happen when the USD is ousted as the global currency standard. Your dollars, and everything that you have been working for, all your dreams and ambitions will be destroyed when your money has no worth whatsoever. Unrest and civil violence will be rampant across the country, making the "arab spring" look like child's play. The only way America will survive will be with true Americans uniting to overthrow the regime put in place by the communist/socialist obama when he declares a state of emergency and martial law to contain the unrest.

http://www.mediafreedominternational.org/2011/04/09/will-a-state-of-emergency-be-used-to-supersede-our-constitution/

http://www.inflation.us/economicupdate.html

If obama is who he says he is, then he is committed to his course of liberal monetary destruction through his policies. He cannot change course, even if he wanted to. He is a puppet anyway. The silver bullet has been chambered, the trigger is being squeezed. Our country is a ticking time bomb.

To my liberal-rational friends,

Tell me how we are going to reverse this. What are your ideas? Please tell me I'm wrong. What will the masses of people receiving entitlements do when they have no more dole (did you see what happened after Katrina)? Will taxing 53% of Americans reverse our deficit when jobs are disappearing?

Powerball

It will be much worse than 4 more years of going down the drain!
I B.O. Is reelected America will be lost for decades or forever unless there is a revolution.
And you'd better hope you have guns.
This isn't about little stupid Obama though; this is a movement of historic proportions. the goal is to get rid of democracy and capitalism and move you first into dependence, then servitude, then slavery and poverty.
America is the spot-light of the world for freedom -everyone wants to come here! I haven't heard of anyone struggling to get out!
There are very few Americans who aren't on the government dole. Now, the Baby Boomers are retiring and there is more drain on the government coffers because they didn't prepare for it. They've spent the money! So what's the talk? It's that our kids and anyone below the age of 50 will need to find their own retirement plans while they still must pay to finish off the Boomers.
and yet, everyone wants on the government tab. Your kids, in elementary and high school today, will not have the same leisure and spending power as you have today. If you have grand kids, they won't either. What do you think they will think when they reach your age and realize it was yours was the last generation to see the American Dream? They will be mad, real mad! And I don't believe they will think much of you either!
So who will give a crap about you in old age?
No one, just You!
The truth of the matter is it would be best for the next generations if this government failed and we, the generation who're now 50 and above, went through a fail government and the hardships that would befall us than sell out our kids and grandkids to the progressive socialist dictators that run our government today. But that won't happen because you all are a bunch of worthless scumbaggs only concerned with you're pitiful few years on this planet.
I don't know which I detest more, the government pigs we have put in power or you stupid people without morals and ethics. Both make me equally sick!

ain't greeley grand?

I honestly do not see anyone I would vote for. That is why I think that we will have four more years of slowly going down the drain with YOU KNOW WHO.

Bobby J.

Yea Joe Smith.
