Thanks to a Greeley Report reader for this news tip.
Yesterday a group of protestors gathered outside of Republican Cory Gardner's office in Ft. Collins to protest his stance regarding the U.S. debt. Unbelievably, they wanted him to add even more debt to your future. Several from Greeley drove over to demand Gardner pile on the debt, and they were dutifully recorded in the Lib Trib. However, the local rag conveniently omitted a few facts from their story.
The protest was organized by ultra-liberal MoveOn.org. They love all things Obama, socialist, and debt-based. The protestors were gathered using their networks, and the whole debt-loving scheme was once again a liberal push against the conservatives. The sheeple that gathered want Congress to raise the debt-ceiling because they think our nation living in debt is just fine. (This was conveniently not reported.)
There were also counter-protesters in the crowd, encouraging Gardner to stand against raising the debt ceiling. Many of these folks were not part of an organized event. But they wanted to express support for adding no more debt to the budget. (Again, this was omitted from the news story.)
Gardner is no Rand Paul in his stance on the U.S. debt. However, he is concerned enough to stand with the conservatives on the side of fiscal responsibility. While House Speaker John Baynor would like to cozy up to Obama, there is a group of strong conservatives in the House of Representatives that are standing for no increase in the debt ceiling. There are enough of them that have been elected into office with the support of the Tea Parties and 9.12 groups to resist the RINO's efforts. Gardner knows it was the conservative votes from these groups that got him into office. So when it comes to the debt ceiling, he's probably not going to move much from his current position. MoveOn doesn't spell reelection to Gardner. He's reading too many tea leaves instead.
This is the whole picture of what occurred yesterday in Ft. Collins, and it's significantly different than what you may have read. The political battle for your money continues. Liberal groups like MoveOn want the government to have it all. Conservative groups like the Tea Parties and 9.12 groups want you to keep more of it. Call your representatives and let them know where you stand. And if you want to add money to government coffers, be sure to get out your checkbook. I'm sure they will take whatever you give them.

Call him whatever you'd like, but Boehner is the Speaker of the House of Representatives, elected to that position by the Republican-controlled House. And, from Thomas Sowell today:
"Is the Boehner legislation the best legislation possible? Of course not! You don't get your heart's desire when you control only one house of Congress and face a presidential veto."
The most basic fact of life is that we can make our choices only among the alternatives actually available. It is not idealism to ignore the limits of one's power. Nor is it selling out one's principles to recognize those limits at a given time and place, and get the best deal possible under those conditions."

Shirley: Thanks for pointing out the proper spelling of Boehner, and proper use of RINO. Contextually, Boehner is a RINO.

This August 2nd deadline is totally fabricated , and so is the entilement scare ,it is called fear mongering. Wake up and realize you all are being duped with a crisis that is invented. Time to suck it up and make government live within the same means we live within.

If the House passes a Balanced Budget Amendment, does it have ANY chance of passing before August 2? No. All of the insistence on a BBA is dumb. We need to replace President Obama and a few Senators before we can make meaningful reform. Compromise, for now, is the answer. Shirley, I am a Tea Party type and in no way delusional. Why in the hell do you want to live in debt? You love Obama that much? He won't quit until we are dead broke and selling apples on the street corner...........Wise up Shirley.........

You mean the reader who got this info from the Greeley Tribune? And, it's Boehner, not Baynor. Also, its RINOs', not RINO's when plural possessive.
Anyway, those protesters are more delusional than the Tea Party-types who want no deal if it doesn't include a Balanced Budget Amendment. Just slightly more delusional, but more.
