The following is a copy of a letter received by Greeley Report, that was sent to Congressman Gardner after his vote supporting the debt ceiling.
Dear Congressman Gardner,
I'm writing to tell you that I no longer support you as our Congressman, and I intend to throw the full weight of our Northern Colorado influence behind calling for your replacement.
You were not sent to Washington to work with it, you were sent there to dismantle it and return the power to the people. This is why you gained the Tea Party vote, and it is precisely why you have lost it.
Betsy Markey would have advanced the Patriot Act. Betsy Markey would have stuck her head in the sand in support of an unconstitutional president. Betsy Markey would have voted for the debt-ceiling increase. Sounds to me like you're not much different than Betsy Markey.
Rest assured I'll be working against you as a Republican delegate in the coming election season. Hopefully your time of self-discovery in DC is short-lived and we find someone who has the courage to stand against the establishment…and for the Constitution.

Powerball,
Excellent post! Again.

You mispelled Rome.

ok, ok, I can take a little ribing. I know I'm not the greatest speller. It's my philosophy on witch you should be focused.

There is no possible alternative to Gardner other than a Democrat.

Email from Rick Palacio, Chairman, Colorado Democratic Party.
This past weekend, the Washington Post published a chilling account of how Republicans attracted Tea Party Congressional candidates, and how once those candidates won office, they worked together to nearly bring down our economy by holding America’s debt ceiling hostage. The story details the kind of brinksmanship that President Obama and Democrats were dealing with during this debate. This sort of extremism is incredibly dangerous for our country’s future, and I hope you will help Colorado Democrats fight back.
Dangerous as the Tea Party Republicans have proven themselves to be, Democrats can learn a few things from this episode:
1. Americans are facing perhaps the most destructive political force in generations. The Post’s reporting speaks for itself here—the Tea Party is hell-bent on enacting their ideology, even at the expense of the American people and health and well-being of our nation.
2. We can’t let up as frustrations pop up. Detailed analysisshows that if we had continued to engage the same Americans who showed up to vote in 2008, the 2010 elections would have had a different outcome. And as we can see, those results are making a big difference in Washington…for the worse. Democrats need to redouble our efforts to talk to our friends and neighbors who feel politically disengaged.
3. Our strategy for victory in 2012 is straightforward. Tom Brokaw’s discussion at the end of the July 31 airing of Meet the Press on the Tea Party’s success is a clear reminder of how simple our mission really is. If you want to change Washington, you have to get organized around your passions and your interests. If you’re as mad as I am about the Tea Party's dangerous agenda, then do something about it. Volunteer your time. Talk to your friends and neighbors. Donate so that we have the resources to tell our story.
The destructive nature of the Tea Party may be frightening, but together we can beat this back. Please donate today and invest in our efforts to elect responsible leaders. Thank you for your help in making our Democratic vision for Colorado a reality.
Was this "brinksmanship" anything near what happened during the healthcare debate? Not at all. Tea Partiers are Americans with the opinion that "democrats" are leading us down the wrong road. They have a right to that opinion. But who is always first to resort to name calling, it's liberal democrats!
The fact that we lost our AAA+ credit rating happened under the leadership, or not, of Obama. I saw House Republicans and Tea Party membership working on the debt ceiling bill. All democrats and Harry Reid did was to return the mail unopened; dead on arrival. Brinkmanship, you bet it was! How could things with world markets have been different the last two weeks? Would freezing our debt ceiling then have sent a different message? How much have people around the globe lost in the markets again? You may say much of that problem lies with the European financial system and that's true, but where is the leadership? It's Obama pushing a string again just like in Libya. Is he doing a good job? Of course he is! He's a Muslim through and through.
Stick your head in the door of the Democratic Party headquarters in Greeley. 810 9th. St. Or call them: 351-7047 and tell them you intend to keep your democracy, freedoms, and money.
Tell them you won't be voting for any democrat and Obama is a one term disaster!

Roam failed because the businessmen who funded Rome were blead to death by government. They all packed up shop and left.

Cease: to bring or come to an end.

Sieze to exist? I thought it was all the homos who sank Rome.
Posted by: Shirley | August 10, 2011 at 08:41 PM
If politics doesn't change in this country, we will seize to exist as a country. Over the past 3000 years no country has remained as "the power (economic or military) for more than 250 years. We are 235.
Rome fell because of a corrupt Senate, over-extended military, high taxes, and de-based currency.
Any of that sound familiar?
Nother thought: The rioters in the UK are rioting against "rich people", you know..., the people that created the rioters jobs. Just think; that could happen here. That's what happens in an entitlement-state-gone-wild. Are we an entitlement state? How did that happen?
great society, look it up.

In economics, a depression is a sustained, long-term downturn in economic activity in one or more economies. It is a more severe downturn than a recession, which is seen by some economists as part of the modern business cycle.
Considered, by some economists, a rare and extreme form of recession, a depression is characterized by its length, by abnormally large increases in unemployment, falls in the availability of credit— often due to some kind of banking or financial crisis, shrinking output—as buyers dry up and suppliers cut back on production, and investment, large number of bankruptcies—including sovereign debt defaults, significantly reduced amounts of trade and commerce—especially international, as well as highly volatile relative currency value fluctuations—most often due to devaluations. Price deflation, financial crises and bank failures are also common elements of a depression that are not normally a part of a recession.
There was no TARP or social programs during the Great Depression.
The people in our government have been looking out for themselves and every other country but America and yet here we are again. This should have not happened again with the money we pay them and with advances in understanding markets.
It was WWI that got us out of that depression not any social programs! If that isn't true, why haven't modern social programs worked? Why are we in this spot again? If there is positive outlook on the horizon, why did the FED freeze interest rates for two F***ing years. Reports today say market losses over the last couple of days has wiped out all QE2 printing.
This is not a failure of markets or of the will of the American people. It has been brought on by ideologies from both sides of the political aisle. The democrats have a moron at their helm. He is so ineffective even they are turning on this wannabe god-child. The only thing the republicans have working is the possibility of conservatives moving into their ranks; the Tea Partiers.
Life is about to change folks. What you have been told and promised isn't going to happen. You have been overspent by at least a generation. I don't care how much money you have; your supposed economy has been put on ice.
Don't believe me?
Obama ran on "Hope and Change". All he will have to talk about now is past history about other people! I mean Good God -the man doesn't have a budget muchless a plan! Your hundred dollar bill definitely buys less today than it did in 2008 and that will be more than halved if he's reelected.
So instead of voting for him just take a match to it and save me from your stupidity!!
