It seems that many of those we send to Washington, D.C. have their brains turn to mush when they get there. After looking at billions and trillions of dollars, they end up managing the sinking ship, instead of fixing the holes. For the United States to exist in any solvent form, drastic cuts to finances must be made. But the politicians don't seem to know where to find them.
A Greeley Report reader recently suggested to Sam (mr.samhill@yahoo.com) that he take a look at the NOAA website. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is the parent organization for the National Weather Service, and works with weather data. They protect weather forecasters from being sued (you will notice they are all NWS certified), and they do a decent job at predicting weather patterns, hurricanes, and so forth.
However, now the NOAA has started to take itself far to seriously. As you dig into their website (link here), you will soon discover they now think their job is to get into the global climate change business. Furthermore, they seem to think that every aspect of unusual or unseasonal weather is something of a disaster. "So what," you may say. Well, consider this. If your insurance company uses the NOAA and their hype to determine you are in a risky-weather region, your rates will go up! Why? Because a government entity has now stepped beyond providing basic services, and into the political realm of forcing the mantra of climate change on you.
NOAA is one of the areas that should be seriously considered for cutbacks in funding and jobs. Let the basic services remain. But hack out all of the government research, programs, legislative garbage, and all of their self-serving, self-important bureacracy. One reader of Greeley Report came up with that idea. Mr. Gardner and other legislators (e.g., Udall, Bennett and other libs) would do well to listen. They certainly don't seem to have a clue on their own.

Bobby J,
That's FUNNY!!! I bus-a-gut.

Our greatest "sink-hole" is our Southern Border. Seal it now. Save almost immediately.
