Jean Daviet is one of four people running for the 2 year position available on the District 6 school board in the upcoming election. She is a nice person and believes she could make a difference. But she has a problem. According to information revealed in a recent Greeley Gazette article, she may have improperly gathered signatures that would put her on the ballot. (Link here to article.) Yes, it was probably an oversight. But it was still wrong.
Undoubtedly the liberals are salivating over the prospect of her election. If she wins, they can challenge her eligibility in court. They can also talk about the seeming double-standard of Republicans (yes, she is one). Her supporters are understandably upset. They may lose a good candidate because of an honest mistake. But what can be done?
We are a nation of laws, and like it or not this has occurred. Ms. Daviet is probably going to be ineligible. That leaves two liberal, tax-hiking spenders campaigning for that opening and one solid conservative in Scott Rankin. Campaign laws may be confusing, especially to those entering the arena for the first time. It's a prime example of the reason why good people ought to be making the laws and everyone ought to obey them.

Obama’s ground game relied on organized labor, particularly public-sector unions, African-Americans, Latinos and progressive activists. But these groups have not emerged stronger from his three years in office.
Instead, the major winners of the Obama years have been the big nonprofits, venture capitalists and, most obviously, the financial aristocracy. These have all benefited from the Ben Bernanke-Timothy Geithner — previously the Bernanke-Henry Paulson — policy of cheap money and near zero-interest rates, which have depressed the savings of the middle classes but served as a major boon to Wall Street. This has benefited mostly the wealthiest 1 percent, which owns some 40 percent of equities and 60 percent of financial securities.
So far the District 6 school board have shown they are cut from the same cloth.
I ask, why do voters buy into this time after time? It's your kids that pay!
Unlike all the other schemes the government pulls on it's citizens a sound education is NOT something one gets to do over or can capture in a later election. Yet the foolish populous continues to think this time things will be different. When they go home at night and look around they know many of their most deep-seated problems are not solved by simply throwing more money at their problems. They know they must make some fundamental changes in thinking and organization.
Look around your neighborhood. Look how kids are doing that left school 5-10 years ago. The same types of people and politics were in control of the school board then. How are those kids doing? Do they have good jobs and prospects for the future? No they don't and it's time you took control of your schools back.
Take the challenge. If you hire a new board with conservative ideas and it doesn't workout has more or less harm been done? Will you feel you have a say in your child's education or are you more comfortable bowing to dictates of an elite class?
The time is now!
Save the children.

I'll be following each of the candidates as they drive. If they do anything I consider to be careless, I'll let you know. Careless driving carries the possible punishment of jail. Really important stuff, Brett and Jack.
