Recently a highly competent pilot crashed into a Nevada crowd at a race, killing and permanently injuring several. It was a freak accident at a dangerous event that may have been caused by mechanical failure. However, various liberal and RINO members of the Federal government are now calling for investigations to determine how this sport may be made safer for those attending and those involved.
These same suspects are on the same side as the President when it comes to banning you and me (citizens of the United States) from keeping and bearing arms. They have no cohesive policy to seal our borders and protect us from enemies from without. They can't use the term terrorist and muslim in the same sentence. But they want to protect us from...ourselves?
We need to remember that life is dangerous. Freedom is actually more dangerous yet. Freedom has no safety nets, and free people do foolish things at times. Sometimes accidents happen that are the result of human or mechanical failure. But that is one of the risks of freedom. This is why people like car and plane races, extreme sports, firearms, and wandering out into the wilderness alone. They are free. Risky? Yes. But you cannot have one without the other.
The government that seeks to protect people from themselves is the government that will rob you blind of your freedoms. The government that wants to make every person succeed is the government that is the tyrannical, nanny state. Freedom means that you and I must assume personal responsibility. And when we stumble, it is up to ourselves to get back up again. If we expect the government to make us more safe, we have compromised freedom at the most basic level. May airplane races stay fun...and dangerous. Long live freedom.

Well said! Freedom is never free! Is there anything that the government doesn't have there fingers in?
