This election cycle it seems that the incumbents are positioned to win, in the Greeley City elections. Norton and some of the others may be job killers that love to spend and regulate ever more, while failing to roll back anything, but Greeley is too stupid or sleepy to notice. However, the race that is getting the attention is the District 6 school board race. With 14 candidates remaining (Jean Daviet has dropped out), the competition for the 4 open seats makes for interesting debate.
The next opportunity to hear the candidates respond to questions will be tomorrow night at the Greeley 9.12 meeting, at 6:30 p.m., at Destiny Christian Church. (Link here to the Greeley 9.12 website.) All candidates have been invited to attend, and the forum will be moderated. The election outcome will do more than impact parents and children. It may be a watershed moment in District 6, when they learn they can continue to demand more money from taxpayers, or figure out the fact that they have to do a better job of management and funds allocation.
As Greeley Report has stated before, the field actually narrows significantly when candidates are questioned about tax increases such as Proposition 103, and their views on education in general. At this point it seems there are only 3-4 decent candidates for the four-year positions. They are: Bret Elliott, Geoff Broughton, Tim Pike and Logan Richardson. Only one solid candidate remains for the 2-year position: Scott Rankin. Many of the others have various agendas of their own including tax increases, more socialism, politically-correct undercurrents, and other more personal issues. Some have run before, and only have the same, old tax-and-spend ideas.
If you haven't attended a candidate forum yet, this might be a good one. Since Greeley residents have lost interest in their city, let's see what they think about their failing schools.

Don't know what is wrong what is rite but i know that every one has there own point of view and same goes to this one

I haven't lost interest. I will vote for the conservative candidates. As much as I would love to get more involved politically, I am too busy earning a living.
I vow to always, and forever more, oppose ANY tax increase - BAR NONE. I have voted that way since I was eligible to vote. Our government receives too much money. If the government can't do it efficiently (what can they do efficiently?), then it should be left to private enterprise.
What would happen if our government suddenly stopped "educating"? Then there would be a need. Who would fill that need? Entrepreneurs. The free market. Capitalism. Think it would be more efficient?
Who would pay? If that question could be answered, then this would all be a foregone conclusion. If we were to do it the way our tax code is set up presently, then the "wealthy" half of our country would pay double tuition, while the "poor" half would pay nothing. That's what we call "fair share", right?
Note: Back in the day our children's education was largely picked up by our churches. But now days people only believe in God when it is convenient. We have since scorned God, and our present "education" system is the result.
