After the recent snowstorm that broke trees and snapped branches Greeley announced they would haul off the branches for people, and the cost would be "free." The people rejoiced, and an election season favor was won, which also delighted the politicians! But let's be honest. Was this freebie actually free? No.
Somebody has been doing the work. This person (or persons) eats, lives in a residence, wears clothes, drives a vehicle and feeds a family. They must be paid in order to live. Who will pay them? The city. Where will the city get their funds? From you and me. Either that, or they will take funds they already have, and move them from other places in the city coffers.
But the city told us the limb and branch removal would be free. This is a perfect example of political-speak. They want us to believe that we can obtain something for nothing, and of course the government is the body that can give this to us. Well, nothing happens for free unless it is given by God. So where did the tree removal funds originate? Who made the decision? What has been cut? Nothing? How did the city end up with extra cash when they told us they were strapped? We would like to know how "free" works at the government level. After all, it pays to look behind the scenes when government says it's "free."

The City is an it, not a they. English should be our official language.

So, It's free? Well it might be free, but they, the City have never been by to pick up our branches, think they forgot about west Greeley.

Ellie,
So we shouldn't vote in the 2012 Presidential election?
I don't disagree with you, but I do believe that Powerball is exactly right. We have more to fear, than fear itself.
2nd Amendment

Powerball, this article has very little to do with the Obama administration, and quite a lot to do with what's going on right under our own noses. Obama may come or go, but the problems will continue if we don't deal with these local problems (which we DO have the power to change) first. “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much." ~Luke 16:10
We need to be taking care of our own backyard before tackling the rest of the countries...

What I hate about Obamanation the most is how he, "Our" first black president has co-opted the civil rights movement that many good Americans, black and white, participated in. Exchanging it for the slavery of socialism as he so clearly adopts and explains in his book "Dreams From My Father".
What a terribly misguided human being Obamanation is.
Either God in heaven is crying or we are about to witness, at last, a massive explosion from racism that will once and for all blow it asunder -and to hell!
