Bobby J.

So Sam,

Was he a Communist or a Republican? Maybe now you can see there is little difference.

Shirley

Free to reject government benefits vs. free to do nothing. Atta boy, Dennis. Well done. Keep stockpiling your silver, food, and ammo.

Powerball

The real problem is, liberal generosity wants to feed the poor a fish everyday.
While conservatives want the poor to learn to enjoy fishing, nature, fresh air, and the freedom of self destiny.
That puts liberals out of business.

Now, let's see. Shirley said,
"Lets test your assertion: you could be the property of another, with no freedoms of any kind, no standing under the law, no wages." ( That's slavery isn't it Shirley?)
"Or, you could have all of those things (One could be a slave?) but be partially dependent on the federal government."
What are you talking about Shirley, government sponsored slavery and isn't that the point Denis was trying to make in the first place?
Then Shirley questions, if Dennis thinks "the former is worse than the latter?"
Then she says it could be Dennis's dumbest claim yet.

I don't think you want to know what Dennis thinks Shirley. I think you would kick if you were playing football!

Shirley

Gosh Dennis, even the Bible says nobody will live longer than 120 years. Did you forget that?

But let's set that aside and test your assertion: you could be the property of another, with no freedoms of any kind, no standing under the law, no wages. Or, you could have all of those things but be partially dependent on the federal government. Hmm. The former is worse than the latter? Could be your dumbest claim yet.

Dennis

My comment obviously went over Hal and Shirley's heads.

People with greater intellect understand.

Hal

"Unfortunately many African Americans are more enslaved today than they were before the Civil War."

Aside from the absurdity Shirley rightly identified, can anyone else identify the flaw in this statement?

The truth still remains; what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
What you wish for your side is just a viable for the other side as well since an accepted concept spreads.

So, if you favor one group over another you had better do away with democracy as fast as you can and declare yourself a dictator. You also might want to remember the power of one and also strike revolution from the dictionary. But wasn't it revolution against colonialism and capitalism that endeared Obamanation to his father, Obama Sr. and also estranged him from his grandfather when he embraced the free market?

Dr. King's dreams were not as convoluted as the left has interpreted them. They have done this for power not for goodwill. Those kinds of dreams are called nightmares.

Shirley

Not even the most conservative black conservative, Thomas Sowell, would make such an absurd assertion.

Dennis

When am I going to have a day off because I am white? After all, only 16% of the worlds population is white.

The idea of MLK is/was greater than the man. He, like all of us, had many flaws. Unfortunately many African Americans are more enslaved today than they were before the Civil War. LBJ's "Great Society" went a long way to see to that, as well as socializing this once great country.

I pray for a day when race is a non-issue. When every person is truly free to experience life to the fullest without harmful judgement due to race. This is a two-way street.

Shirley

Funny that the anonymous and cowardly columnist jabs a great and courageous (no matter how flawed) American for his name. Where are you this year, Reese? Restraining order? Lawsuits? How's that newspaper going?
