As a U.S. Senator and now as an impostor-President Barack Obama has been supportive of human genocide in the form of abortion. He has supported all types of abortion procedures including late-term abortions, and has even demanded that people set aside their religious beliefs to support the heinous practice.
This past week Obama said that the 39th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade is a chance to recognize the "fundamental constitutional right." He also said it would "continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams." Obama's alleged logic for this type of garbage stems from his so-called commitment that government should not intrude on private family matters. This viewpoint does not extend to his record concerning internet privacy, freedom of religion and freedom of expression in other areas. Just abortion.
Abortion is still the killing of an unborn child in the womb. Scientific research and a generation of studies provide conclusive evidence that abortion is painful, wrong, and has long-lasting consequences. It must be banned. Obama supports this genocide. Ban it! Others will argue for the women. Somebody must speak for the child. This must be the generation that stops this crime before others are killed.

That is a rational argument; however, I disagree.

It doesn't make it better. It makes it not murder. Calling those who choose abortion murderers is a good way to close their minds and hearts to change, which is something I'd like them to do. And, that's why I confront those who falsely label abortion as murder.

"Murder is the unjustified termination of a human life with malice. Abortion almost never is accompanied by malice."
.....and that makes it better, how?
Is it indifference? Is it apathy? Or perhaps it's taking out the garbage.
I think I would rather be murdered. At least there would be some emotion. Some acknowledgement.

This basically means that we all sin. we already knew that. The difference is accepting Jesus Christ as your savior.
our country was a better place when we did

In other words, Shirley, you were making crap up.
http://www.abortionno.org/Resources/fastfacts.html
No religious affiliation accounts for about 24% of all abortions performed in the US.

Not off hand, no. Pretty easy to find via google. Might be tough to find credible data, but reports have been published. Plenty of Catholics and Evangelicals (see how those are capitalized, Dennis?) terminate pregnancies.
Posted by: Shirley | January 26, 2012 at 05:56 PM
Interesting conversation. Shirley, do you have actual facts/numbers on the percentage of women who have abortions from each religion? I'd like to see those.
Posted by: Say What? | January 26, 2012 at 05:02 PM
It's improper to capitalize god when using the term in a generic fashion as I did in that context.
Posted by: Shirley | January 25, 2012 at 07:30 PM
Did I claim that only atheist abort their children?
Did I claim that Christians are sin free?
Do you like your name capitalized?
....spose we could pay the same respect to God?
Posted by: Dennis | January 25, 2012 at 06:26 PM
nonsense
Posted by: Dennis | January 25, 2012 at 06:24 PM
Mostly, Dennis, it's common sense. A vast majority of pregnancies are not intentionally terminated, without regard to the mother's religion. This is easy enough to prove by comparing the number of births plus the number of unintended miscarriages to the number of abortions each year. On a percentage basis, very few choose to end their pregnancies. The burden of proof lies on he who asserts that atheists terminate pregnancies at a significantly higher rate than those who identify as believers of one god or another. I'm pretty sure I've seen the data about how many Christians, both Protestant and Catholic, choose abortions. It ain't just a few.

What is your source of information on that claim?
Posted by: Dennis | January 25, 2012 at 04:48 AM
Almost 100% of atheists choose not to abort. My point stands.

"Also, whether the conceived child is a life worth sustaining is an issue completely unrelated to someone's faith."
So your parents "judged" that you were worth saving? Who were your parents to make this judgement?
One thing we all have in common: Our parents judged we were worthy to live.
Oh thank God (insert parent here) that I am worthy to live!
Where does that leave God?.... Better question; where does that leave us?
The better choice if people are going the "whore around" is to use a PREVENTIVE form of birth control.
i am not the judge

Shirley said,
"The best way to minimize abortion is to convince people that the conceived child should be given an opportunity to live."
That may be the first I have ever agreed with Shirley. Though the rest of her post lacks the clarity of this statement I am proud to agree with her on this. Sadly, abortion today is viewed as just another form of birth-control. When, in reality it is killing babies.
She is also on track when she says laws won't eliminate abortion, those involved don't care enough to avoid pregnancy, they are not going to care about breaking the law.

I'm anti-abortion, Powerball. I love children, including my own. My parents love me. My position is that the conceived child should have legal standing, but this position is totally unrelated to my faith in God. It's just logic to me.

Murder is the unjustified termination of a human life with malice. Abortion almost never is accompanied by malice. There is no consensus as to whether the unborn fetus, particularly before "viability," is a human life. Your challenge is not in electing those with whom you agree--the challenge is convincing those with whom you disagree to change their minds. Calling those with whom you disagree murderers will end that effort quickly.

Shirley,
Your statement, "Also, whether the conceived child is a life worth sustaining is an issue completely unrelated to someone's faith." is truly the saddest and most pathetic thing I have ever heard. I don't know what to say to you other than you must be in great pain. How terribly sad for you. When you say it's an issue unrelated to faith isn't there faith in conviction? Faith isnt alway about religion. You seem to be operating on whims.
If you are a parent, would you tell your kids they were allowed to live because of their good timing or something?
I had poor parenting; they were lost and confused. You are more than abusive. You are cold.

Last time I looked murder was against the law..........Abortion is murder, plain and simple......Who doesn't get this?
Posted by: greeleygirl | January 24, 2012 at 01:32 PM
I'm not sure why anyone who is against abortion would place any faith in either political party to end abortion. Outlawing abortion is not possible, at least not for a long time. Outlawing abortion doesn't stop abortion anyway. The best way to minimize abortion is to convince people that the conceived child should be given an opportunity to live. This requires logic and love, and most certainly, the absence of yelling, name-calling, publication of photos of aborted fetuses, etc. People, churches, parties, etc. do a great job of sustaining themselves (and their coffers) by claiming to be advocates of the unborn. More often than not, all they accomplish is aggrandizement of power and self-righteousness, and more often than not, their tactics foreclose any opportunity that might have otherwise existed to convince someone who believes abortion is okay to change perspective.
Also, whether the conceived child is a life worth sustaining is an issue completely unrelated to someone's faith.

I can't believe that a Christian would ever support abortion. This is why it is confounding to me when I meet a fellow Christian that claims to be a democrat. How can they reconcile this?
obama will answer to God, as will we all. Thank God for our savior Jesus Christ!
he will also answer to patriots

Only liberals support abortions.
