Jim Needs Money

Liberal Democrat Jim Riesburg has announced his plans to run for a fourth term as representative in the Colorado Statehouse.  Unless he is voted out, you will continue to be represented by a pro-tax and spend, pro-homosexual, pro-abortion, pro-early release of prisoners into your neighborhood, pro-over regulate business, and pro-higher property tax politician.

Why is he announcing his candidacy now?  It's simple.  He needs the money.  He's also sending a message.  The incumbent is running.  Don't try and run against me.  Those who oppose Riesburg need good, fresh candidates who will work with conservatives and believe in restoring integrity to government.  Riesburg can be beat.  He has been a friend of taxes and poor social policy too many times.  He has announced his candidacy.  Now let's see who will stand up against him.

Better Things To Do?

Over the course of the past 3 months local photographer Jerry Long has endeavored to contact Representative Betsey Markey (D) and Senator Bennett (D) regarding illegal immigration issues.  He has been completely rebuffed or ignored.

In November Long provided a CD of a powerpoint presentation to Bennett's staffer, showing the existing laws that the Federal government was not enforcing.  Then in December he followed up with a question.  "Has the presentation been viewed by Senator Bennett?"  Her answer?  "No, he has not."  When questioned further, Bennett's staffer responded, "He has more important things to do, like work on health care in Washington, than to watch your powerpoint."

According to the U.S. Constitution providing for border security is one of the few things the Federal government is supposed to provide.  Health care isn't even on the list.  However, Bennett, Markey, Udall and others are completely ignoring their Constitutional duties, to do whatever they want.  Illegals take American jobs.  We pay for their schooling, and are well aware of their gang activities.  Last year Colorado spent $33 million to incarcerate convicted illegals in our prisons.  But Bennett has more important things to do?

Now dead dog Markey and the House of Representatives are proposing amnesty for the lawbreakers. They do not listen!  Go to their meetings.  Remember their crimes against our nation.  Understand that they want to tax you, steal your freedoms, and give the rights of citizens to illegal aliens.  And vote them out.  The efforts of local patriots such as Jerry Long will pay off at the ballot box.  Let's remind them of the fact that their "better things to do," begins and ends with upholding the U.S. Constitution for a change.

Dead Dog

Liberal Democrat Betsey Markey joined the "Blue Dog Democrats" group yesterday in a highly publicized announcement.  This came shortly after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told an inside group of Dems that the Senate Democrats would introduce legislation next year, and the House Democrats would respond, thereby taking heat off of several democratic candidates who are up for reelection.  This includes Markey.

Markey has been a good little F.O.P. (Friend of Pelosi).  And her claims of being a "Blue Dog" are laughable.  She voted for Obama's huge increases, and only backed off on voting for some of the health care debacle because of pressure from we-the-people.  She is for crap and turd (e.g., cap and trade), amnesty for illegals, and her idea of reining in spending is simply spending a little less than most democrats and liberals.

Now, Markey is hoping that if she acts conservatively over the next few months we will forget how liberal she has been under the first section of her term.  It's an age-old ploy slimy politicians use to try to stay in power.  However, with people like Corey Gardner poised to take her down with clear-cut, articulate plans of action, Markey may not be a blue dog.  She may be a dead dog.

Not Progress; Just Liberal Rhetoric

A so-called "progressive" group called Colorado Progress Now has slandered the local tea party movement, calling them racist and extremist.  Their press release which they used to respond to the Neil Cavuto - Scott McInnis interview was short on facts, but long on labels.  In it, they accused Tea Party members of comparing Obama to Hitler and others, and questioned his validity to be President due to his efforts (and spending of nearly $2 million) to conceal his identity, rather than reveal who he is in all aspects of his life.  They did not mention posters libeling Bush or others with the same identities, which reveals their focus.

Progress Now is not progressive.  They are liberal, socialist and left-wing.  However, they attempt to use the term "progressive" as an attempt to mask this bias.  While McInnis is in no way a "Tea Party" candidate, they use this single interview to blast both him and the Tea Party movement.  Furthermore, if they had attended any Tea Party function, they would discover it is a largely grassroots movement attempting to link government directly to the constitution, and not to any party.

But that's what liberals do.  Attack, slander, and use as few facts as necessary.  As long as the press release looks good, the ignorant unwashed buy newspapers and devour it at face value.  Or do they?  Greeley Report is growing, while the numbers of sheeple turning to mainstream media are shrinking.  There is a movement to reclaim America afoot.

Did You Catch It?

It's always interesting to watch the liberals try to kill conservatism by editorial.  Take for example the article in the Lib Trib yesterday.  They were talking about how Ken Buck must appeal to moderates in order to have a chance.  Their "expert" of choice they interviewed was Floyd Ciruli.

What they did not mention is that Floyd Ciruli is notoriously anti-conservative.  He was a pundit for Denver's 9News, and always swings center-left in his analysis.  So the Lib Trib once again selected an "expert" that shares their views.  They try to conceal their bias and write articles to try and influence the way you think by doing this.  It's not reporting, folks.  It's influencing the masses, and that means you.

The article they wrote could have been written about how Jane Norton must work very hard to gain the support of conservatives.  She faces an uphill battle against an independent-leaning Buck in that regard.  They could have found a conservative pundit to quote.  And then the article would have leaned toward the conservative sector.  And it would have been equally valid in it's viewpoint.  This is why the Lib Trib is a dangerous newspaper.  They mask their liberal views in a shroud of "unbiased" reporting, but they are extremely biased toward the moderate to liberal sector.  Watch them.  And watch Buck run.  He is gaining the support of a great many independents out there.  It's going to be a race for Norton to lose, and Buck to win.

Dirty Money In Northern Colorado

What do Senator Udall, Betsey Markey, Defenders of Wildlife and the McWhinney Group (Developers of Centerra) have in common?  They all share a common desire to take control of Northern Colorado with liberal money.  Now their true colors are showing.

McWhinney was supposed to put up a bond to guarantee the roads, sewer, etc., as Centerra was developed.  They didn't.  But they managed to fund nearly every liberal Democrat in the 2008 political cycle.  Now they have defaulted on a $116 million loan on Centerra.  They still owe $113 million!

Defenders of Wildlife attacked Marilyn Musgrave repeatedly and supported Betsey Markey and Mark Udall.  Of course they love Udall's Sierra Club lawyer wife, and they love animals more than people.  This is exemplified in the forum they are holding soon in Denver to moan and groan over the "vanishing habitat" for wolves, lynx and other animals they deem to be more valuable than you.

Of course Markey and Udall won't be giving any money back from these groups.  You won't hear Markey complain about the lack of ethics from her campaign supporter.  It's business as usual for them.  The Lib Trib won't follow the dirty money trails either.  You have to rely on Greeley Report for that.  There will be more dirty politics in days to come, and you can hear it here first.  Then you can choose where to shop and where you avoid.  Make your shopping dollars count toward conservative causes; not the liberals.

The Winners And The Losers

Greeley Report closely followed the results of the local and national elections last night.  As the new day dawns, it appears that conservatives are winning at a grassroots level in various places in the nation.  In the Greeley area there were some clear-cut winners and losers.

Losers

Tom Norton - Why is Norton in the losers column when he won the mayoral race?  Simple.  He outspent his opponent 3-1, and garnered the support of Greeley's wealthiest crowd.  He has prior history in public office.  Still, he was only able to eke out a very slim margin of victory (with a number of ballots still in play).  If this RINO doesn't work with the conservatives and cut taxes he will join a list of failed "Toms" in the region very quickly.

Ed Philipsen - Ed did not seize control of his opponent's lies.  He could have demonstrated his ability to lead, and all he did was talk.  The race could have been won by an Ed.  Instead, it's a Tom.

The Greeley Elite - The movers and shakers in Greeley partnered with the money people to dump thousands of dollars into 3A and Norton's mayoral race.  While Norton won, 3A lost.  And their opposition was not funded well at all.  Their ivory towers are shaking.

3A - Burn baby, burn!  The opposition to this measure was outfunded by a 60 to 1 margin (yes, it's true!).  But the ballot measure went down, losing to a 60+ percent no vote!  Lang and her cronies are being told to do a better job or else.  How is that for a job satisfaction rating?

The Lib Trib - They editorialized, they criticized, they endorsed, they advertised, they pushed.  In the end their snide little diatribes didn't work.  They lost on Brett Reese, 3A, and a few other candidate endorsements.  They took the advertising money of the wealthy and showed that their reader base is shrinking.  So is their credibility.  Hear that sucking sound, Lib Trib?  It's readers moving to KFKA, Pirate, and Greeley Report.

Doug Lidiak - Lidiak lost to the name recognition and cronies of Kron and Trimberger.  He also lost to a wave of support for fresh faces and voices in Reese and Kershaw.  Too bad.  Kron or Trimberger should have been bumped instead.

RINO's/DIABLO's - RINO's (Republican in Name Only) and DIABLO's (Democrat in all but Label Only) have received a wake-up call.  They cannot govern in any way without conservatives.  You sent that message to them in screaming fashion.  Can they hear you now?  Probably not.  They are usually mild-speaking idiots.

Winners

Brett Reese - Brett Reese worked his butt off, and ran an excellent, low-budget race for school board.  He won.  Not only did he win, he was within 2.5 percentage points of surpassing the top candidate in a field of five!  Don't expect Reese to provide quotes to the misquoting and liberal newspaper.  Pirate radio will win as well as Greeley Report, because you can expect Reese to speak with them.  They will publish his information in an unedited fashion.  Pirate is already the most listened-to station in Greeley.  It's star is rising, as is Reeses.

The 9.12 Group - This little group was mocked and criticized by the Lib Trib.  They had almost no funding, and were truly a grassroots movement.  However, by focusing on positions with issues and candidates, and by getting involved, they made a huge difference in this race.  Their "No on 3A" piece nearly changed the mayor's race, and played a huge role in 3A.  They have a place at the table if they don't grow warm, fuzzy, and stupid.

Amy Oliver/School Bullies - Do not mess with Amy!  She was bold, articulate, and opposed 3A.  She and Reese (two broadcasters) spoke to the grassroots in a way that connected.  She has a good listening audence in Colorado, and she makes sense.  Oliver's winning ways make her one of the key people to listen to in the region.

District 6 - How can school district 6 win, when 3A lost?  It's simple.  Now District 6 must focus on managing creatively.  They can open up their processes.  If they will listen to the shot across their bow fired last night, they will realize they need to put their books on line.  They need to change the way they do business.  They need to listen to Reese.  If they don't his friends will join him on the board in the next round of elections.  Expensive desks and overpriced lifts are out.  Budgeting and cutting is in.  This will position District 6 ahead of the curve that most of the districts in the state will feel 2 years from now.  The economic crash is still building.

Northern Colorado Conservatives - That roar you heard last night was from the collective screams of conservatives at the ballot box.  Can you hear them now?  They aren't merely angry with pseudo-president Obama.  They are angry with every weak RINO, liberal democrat, and lying newspaper.  They are going to continue to get involved in government.  They are awakening, hopefully long-term, to the fact that if they don't get involved with groups such as 9.12, or even run for office themselves, their liberties will be taken by the liberals who claim to protect them.  Socialism or freedom.  They have heard the cell doors clanging shut, and they are ready to fight their way out.

Bang, Bang, You're....Alive?

Sam read the Lib Trib editorial attacking the 9.12 group with great amusement over the weekend.  It is obvious the Trib is the hired gun for Norton and 3A.  Every candidate they support backs 3A.  And Tom-Tom is their poster child.  So the coordinated efforts by little Mikey Peters to say something stupid in his Gnarly Trombone column, along with Bang-Bang Bangert and his editorial attacking the 9.12 group were a unified, biased attack.

Here are the facts.

• The 9.12 group invited both candidates to their mayoral forum.  Norton accepted first, and then lied.
  
• Norton was caught lying, and trying to hide from the 9.12 group.
  
• The Lib Trib never reported any of this until Greeley Report forced their hand.
• Norton will not take a stand on 3A now, even though he can.  He is afraid his desire for $30 million dollars more (not just $16) will come out.The 9.12 group challenged Norton because he is the candidate directly linked to the blue ribbon panel.
• The 9.12 group also challenged 3A in the flier.
  
• Apparently the flier is successful, because the liberal media continues to attack them.
  
• Norton isnt hiding in a cave as the Trib asserts.  He just wont attend mayoral forums, and likes to lie to people he wants to control.  He wants to raise taxes and run his own fiefdom.  (Readers of the Trib, you may have to look that word up in a book called the dictionary.)
• Sam believes the farce is being perpetrated by the Lib Trib.  If the 9.12 group is known by its friends and its enemies, it is a good group!

And Now For The Other Side

The Lib Trib has endorsed 4 District 6 school board candidates in an amazing display of bias.  They openly endorse 3A, and just about wet themselves with joy as they slap around Brett Reese for opposing it.  They openly endorse his four opponents.  Lets take a deeper look at all five.

• Judy Kron.  Worked with United Way and was involved in the community.  Served on the board for 4 years.  Would not open up District 6 books until Reese and Amy Oliver pushed for more transparency.  Surprise!  She decided to say she was pushing for transparency.  Cannot manage $30 million per year, so she wants $16 million more!  What a crone.  Do not vote for her.
  
• Linda Trimberger.  Former union schoolteacher.  A part of the problem for 30 years.  Trimberger doesn't like transparency, likes liberals, and defends the school district raising their performance by less than 5 percent in 4 years.  They are still failing, but she is proud of their achievement.  She cannot manage $30 million per year, so she wants $16 million more.  She tends to talk a lot and it means very little.  She uses school visits to justify the need for more money.  But she avoids talk about $2,000 desks, tow trucks, lifts, and new computers that are on order.  Do not vote for Trimberger unless you want more of the same.
• Doug Lidiak.  Lidiak was appointed recently to fill a vacancy.  Although he is a newcomer, he sold educational software to District 6 and other districts.  He is as close to being an insider as possible, while being an outsider.  A part of the educational machine.  His business success is all based on teachers unions and establishment, entrenched educational problems across the nation.  Sam doesn't know if Lidiak would be good or not, and may not vote for him.
• Doug Kershaw.  Kershaw threw his hat in the ring for school board at the last minute, immediately after Reese announced his candidacy.  He shows up late to debates and talks about what he doesn't know.  Sam has listened to him intently and found he knows very little about District 6.  He rages on the fiddle, and comes from a poor background.  So what?  He is bought and paid for by the pro-3A crowd.  Sam cannot believe the Lib Trib actually endorsed him.  They must really hate Brett Reese.  Or they are completely biased and stupid.  Probably both.  Do not vote for Kershaw.
  
• Brett Reese.  Reese gleefully enjoys agitating the Lib Trib.  He is a salesman 24-7 for Pirate Radio, which is one of three businesses he owns.  He was accused of throwing around "loose facts."  However, Kershaw and the others seldom throw facts at all.  The incumbents are proud of their record (failure), Lidiak is a new kid, and Kershaw a late-entry to the race that cannot show up on time.  Reese has dug out indications of poor spending, done his homework on national studies, and opposes business as usual.  He home schools his children, probably because homeschooling works.  If District 6 schools actually worked, he might not have to spend the extra money or put in the extra energy needed to home school.  He actually spends more money on education than any of the other school board candidates, because he also pays District 6 taxes for schools his children or grandchildren do not attend.  Vote ONLY for Brett Reese.

Now do you see articles like this in the Libby Tribby?  Well no.  You see, that would be reporting.  They are missing the whole goal of journalism.  They only gather half the data; the portion they want to make their point.  They share that with you, expecting you to be stupid and believe them.  However, you read Greeley Report and other sites.  You listen to Amy Oliver, Brett Reese and others.  You actually make informed decisions and cast informed votes.  This is why the readership at the Trib is shrinking, and Greeley Report is growing.  You want both sides.  Today this column counterbalances the endorsements of Bangart and his boys.  Vote with your pocketbooks.  You may love education, but you hate corruption and overspending.  Get the bums out of education and it will be miles ahead of voting yes on 3A.  Yes on Reese, No on 3A.

Gangs, Illegals, Mismanagement And Schools

According to supporters of 3A, if you love children you will spend $16 million dollars more per year on their education.  If you don't, you are a hater.  Shame on you.  Today Sam will give you a few ideas of his own that will help our teachers, schools and community.  None of these are discussed in the Lib Trib, of course.  Every candidate they have supported is with Tom-Tom Norton and the pro-3A bunch.  So much for unbiased media at the local level.

Here are some recommendations from Sam:

• First, every child that attends school should provide evidence that they are in the U.S. legally.  Have this proof shown before a child is admitted to school.  If a child or family cannot provide that documentation, contact ICE.  We don't need to pay higher taxes so that an illegal thief can be supported free of charge.
  
• Second, put the word out.  "Involved with a gang?  Your door goes bang."  Get them out of schools, instead of forcing schools to "cater" to them.  Did you know that John Evans middle school had to change their color scheme to a neutral color because their old colors involved red and blue?  Sam is sick of seeing law-abiding citizens being forced to cater to gang-types.  He thinks red, white and blue are still good colors.
  
• Third, slash any salary over $100,000 to that level.  We can employ a state senator for less.  Increase their salaries only by the percentage test scores rise each year.
  
• Fourth, fire non-performing teachers.  They are in the system and give the good ones a bad name.
  
• Fifth, involve parents at every level of district 6.  Every committee from security to curriculum.
  
• Sixth, eliminate the hidden plunder in District 6.  Two lifts, a large tow truck (how much did that cost?) and other toys.
  
• Seventh, use the local bus system.  Thanks to Ed Phillipsen for this idea.
  
• Eighth, challenge the feds and the state.  Every program they enact must come with matching funds.  Unfunded programs will not be implemented.
  
• Ninth, share.  Across school boundaries, equipment, bus rides, etc.  There is too much territorial disputing and not enough cooperation in District 6.
• Tenth, take a hard look at the charter schools.  They do better even though they have less money, very similar demographics, and pay for their own buildings.  District 6 hates it when Sam brings it up and tries to play the demographic card every time.  It is not true.  Take a long, hard look at what works, and copy it elsewhere.

Sam is just getting warmed up.  He thinks Greeley and District 6 can be great, but not if we throw more money at the situation.  Lang, Tom-Tom Norton and the big-money people in town are trying to tell us that more money out of our wallets is a better thing.  What is wrong with this picture?  Can you say slavery?  No wonder they are rich and you are not.

Is This Ours?

Is this a Weld District 6 school bus?  They would like to have us think so.  But it's not.  It's a bus for a school in India.  So, how do they graduate all of those Ph.d. and technically trained students when they have such "appalling" busses?  It's easy.  They don't have to deal with unions, and they know that education is not about the money.  You are being lied to by District 6.  They receive $30 million per year from you, and are asking for an annual increase of $16 million besides.  That is $46 million dollars every year!

Right now this district is telling you that when you give them $30 million dollars they can't find a way to spend only $300,000 on textbooks every year.  That sounds like mismanagement to Sam.  People are out of work, private wages are declining, and house values have dropped.  Shouldn't they rein in their spending instead of increasing it?  Absolutely  They also need to learn to manage what you give them now.  Send them that message.  And while you are at it, vote only for Brett Reese on District 6 school board.  And vote against Tom-Tom Norton.  He brings the same mindset to the mayor's office.

October 17 - News In Review

Here are a few details from the stories Greeley Report broke this week.

• The Greeley 9.12 group released a flyer giving details about 3A.  They also linked Tom-Tom Norton to the blue ribbon panel.  Tommy whined about it to the Lib Trib.
• District 6 received word from the state that they should expect financial shortfalls in 2010.  Since 3A money is place in general fund, it can be used for salaries, no matter what they tell you now.
• Tom-Tom Norton was called a "liberal Republican" by two separate groups across the state.  He's a RINO.
• Norton admitted he lied to the 9.12 group in withdrawing from their candidate forum.
• The Greeley Chamber held their District 6 candidate forum.  Brett Reese was the only candidate with fresh ideas, and the only one who wanted to oppose 3A.
• Greeley 9.12 group leader Brian Britain came home to find Greeley Code Enforcement sitting in front of his house, writing notices for an infraction.  The issue was 4 years old and only came out now.  Incredible timing, eh?
• The Lib Trib endorsed another entrenched, long-time candidate for Ward IV.  Apparently they don't like change as much as they claim.
• Candidate Brett Reese revealed District 6 has pallets of new computers, and 2 new lifts ($60,000).  But they still want money, and they want it for computers.

What's In The Trough?

Sam found this picture of the District 6 board and the Blue Ribbon Panel feeding at the trough and wanting $16 million more dollars out of your wallet every year.  Now before you get mad, you need to hear what was in School Board candidate Brett Reeses latest newsletter.

(Disclaimer:  Sam Hill is not Brett Reese.  Sam is acquainted with Brett and listens to Pirate Radio 104.7.  But the information presented in this column is completely independent of this candidate.)

According to Reese insiders within District 6 are reporting gross mismanagement of funds with what they are given now.

• Computers?  District 6 has pallets of new computers in their warehouse!  They haven't told you, because they want more money!  Furthermore, they have an entire team that maintains their existing computers that they pay.

• Lifts?  District 6 has a lift with a cracked bucket.  Did they replace the bucket?  No!  They bought a whole new lift.  Then they wanted a bigger one.  So they bought that, too.  It's so big they don't have a trailer to tow it.  They could have rented one and saved more than $60,000.

Folks, this is the corruption and feeding trough that is aided by people like Tom Norton, Ranelle Lang, the Lib Trib and others. The good old idiots network needs fresh blood.  Vote only for Brett Reese, and vote no on 3A.  They just want fresh slop in their tough.

Trib Doesn't Like Newcomers

Sam nearly laughed out loud when the Lib Trib endorsed Bill Sterling for Ward IV in the Greeley city council race.  Their reason for the endorsement?  He has lived here longer and knows the territory.  Never mind the facts that Mike Finn is already starting to shake things up by his presence on the council as a late-term appointee to replace Shaddock.  Sam has heard Sterling and thinks he would be more of the same old cronyism and ingrown idiocy.  Finn might be a refreshing change Greeley needs.  Besides, if the Lib Trib is endorsing his opponent it's a very good sign that Finn might be pretty decent.

Keep Out!

Sam has been occupied with generating income this week, and hasn't been able to attend various things.  However, his range of contacts, comments (yes, Sam reads your comments) and friends keep him informed.  So the facts in this story are true, and have been given to him by people who were actually at the events.

At the recent District 6 Candidates forum at the Chamber building, "outsider" Brett Reese was the sole candidate opposing the 3A tax increase.  Reese stated the fact that Norton and others wanted $30 million per year; not $16.  But they opted to push for $16 to start, and see where that took them.  Not one board member dissented this statement, although Judy Kron's face did resemble a grim troll doll at times when Reese spoke.

Reese has shared various ideas to make the school system more efficient (such as partnering with Greeley to use the public bus system).  These innovations have been largely ignored by the others and by the Lib Trib.

Reese is an "outsider" because he supports innovation, parental involvement and school choice.  District 6 does not want any of this.

It's obvious the District 6 culture is opposed to "outsiders."  They want to keep the band of thieves and control freaks intact and keep your false sense of satisfaction at a high level.  Koolaid anyone?

So He Lied

Today in the Lib Trib Mayoral candidate Tom Norton admitted he lied to the 9.12 group when he backed out of their Mayoral forum.  Sam broke the story here on Greeley Report (which the liberal establishment Trib likes to mock as less credible....but note they didnt break the story until they had to).  So you readers got this story a couple of weeks ago.  What is little Mikey Peters saying to that one, mediocre investigative journalist that he is?

So, what else is Tom-Tom lying about?  3A?  His positions on taxes?  His views on running the city?  How the blue ribbon panel of District 6 can mismanage $30 million dollars each year and wants $16 million more?  Wouldnt you like to know?  This was the reason for the forum, for the 9.12 group to ask both candidates direct questions.  Tom-Tom opted to lie his way out of that forum, after agreeing to show up.  He appeared at the other forum run by another group that he knew was swung in his favor, though.  Phillipsen appeared at both.

Now Norton says the flier the 9.12 group sent out sharing information about him and 3A is "childish."  Well Tom, you started it.  You are the two-faced liar that wants to be mayor.  You wanted to give us bull and sell your tax-increasing ways.  And when you get caught, others are childish?  Sam thinks your true self was revealed, and you dont like it.  When the grassroots of Northern Colorado gets involved, it makes government better.  No to Norton; No to 3A.  And nice job, 9.12 group.  You have already done a good service to Northern Colorado.

No Bull!

Sam likes some of the things he is seeing from the local 9.12 group in Greeley.  Instead of just waving signs and being irritated, they decided to get involved in the local scene.  And with their ad over the weekend on the radio (click the link in the article below to listen), and their mailed information Sam got this weekend, they may have an impact.

The mail piece is hilarious, with a picture of Tom Norton superimposed over a bull.  But the greater impact is sure to be felt in that it tells the truth you cannot get from the Lib Trib.  They will not publish what the flier says.  Norton is trying to distance himself from the fact that he was chairman of the District 6 "Blue Ribbon Panel."  He has been pushing for this $16 million tax hike (and that's annually, folks).  Now he won't say what he supports.  Come on.

Sam gets the feeling that the local RINOs and bedwetters won't like this piece because it exposes them.  They have demanded blind trust for years, and look where it has taken us.  Now, as the grassroots groups like 9.12 stand up, it's refreshing to have new voices in the mix.  Wow!  Maybe something will get done after all!

Then there is the other side.

• Brett Reese - will NOT support 3A.  Period.  It is wong.

Who will you vote for on your ballot?  Sam will vote ONLY for Brett, based on principle.  He is the only one that is standing for you and me.

Somehow the local government has to realize that we are tapped out.  No more!  Let them learn to manage instead of extort money.  Cut back!  Eliminate.  Stop spending!  They hate blogs like this because Sam is speaking for you as well.  The depression of 2009 is going to turn into the depression of 2010.  Hang onto your money, folks.  Vote only for Brett, and vote no on 3A.

District 6 Marketing Group?

The Lib Trib recently disclosed the fact that District 6 is spending your money to market itself.  Yes, really!  The district that can't afford to manage $30+ million in annual taxes, and has horrible test scores in every area has stepped into the marketing arena.  How?  They have given your money to the Upstate Economic Development group, which is a private/public consortium of donors that markets Northern Colorado to attract new business to the area.

Now don't get Sam wrong here.  Sam likes the idea of private enterprise.  But District 6 is totally off, here.  They want to market themselves with taxpayer money.  In reality, they need to stay out of the marketing business completely.  That should be left entirely to groups like this, the chamber of commerce and so forth.  The money we give District 6 should go to the schools, students and textbooks; not marketing.

Furthermore, if District 6 likes private enterprise so much, they should get behind school vouchers, charter schools, partnerships with homeschoolers, etc.  Will they do that with their educational philosophy?  No!  Aurora public schools works with homeschoolers in Greeley every week!  It's their way of helping homeschoolers succeed better.  Does District 6 do this?  No!  They spend your money with private partnerships, but they themselves are ingrown.

Sam finds it interesting that the Lib Trib won't question how District 6 spends your money.  District 6 won't disclose how they spend your money.  And when little things like this come to light, it further reveals the deep-seeded issues in the District.  They don't need more money.  They need to change their entire leadership structure and organization first.

Exclusive: District 6 Corruption Revealed

This exclusive information was provided to Sam by a faithful Greeley Report reader and insider at Weld County District 6 Schools.

District 6 is deliberately misleading voters to raise taxes by $16 million with 3A.  They are saying the money is for textbooks, transportation, and other items.  However, it's being placed in the general fund.  What is District 6 concealing?

FACT:  District 6 has textbooks that are stored and not being used.  The reason for the textbook demand is due to their desire to constantly update and replace textbooks every few years.  They want to chase the latest fads in teaching.  However, subjects like Geometry, spelling, and hard sciences remain the same.  Older textbooks can be used to teach (and skilled teachers ignore many of the trendy items in textbooks anyway).  District 6 just wants more money for the new toys on the block.  They need to raid the warehouse and get some of the older textbooks out of storage instead.

FACT:  District 6 is saying the $16 million will not go to teacher salaries.  However, it will go to bus driver salaries.  This is a staffing issue, and you are being misled on purpose.  District 6 is trying to hide this.

FACT:  When students from 2 local schools go to compete in a sports event (such as track, golf, swim team, etc.), each school gets its own activity bus!  Five students may use one forty-passenger bus, and six from another local school would use another forty passenger bus.  They could share a bus for the schools in town and make better use of drivers, buses, and money.  But the district doesn't want to do this.  They want to keep the schools separated, and make you pay for their mismanagement.

FACT:  This information is coming from insiders and even teachers within District 6.  They are disgusted with the mismanagement and corruption within the administration.  When teachers have positive ideas, District 6 doesn't listen.  Sam could reveal specifics, but that would also reveal sources.  He won't do that.  He doesn't want good teachers targeted for revealing the truth.

FACT:  You are being misled by 3A.  Vote no!  Demand more out of your school board.  More honesty with the whole truth.  More transparency!  More teacher and citizen interaction on key boards such as curriculum, and resource management.  District 6 is ingrown and likes it that way.  Cut their cash supply and force them to work for you again, for the good of the students instead of the bureaucrats.

Leadership? What Leadership?

Tom Norton didn't make it to the 9.12 Group mayoral forum on Saturday night.  The "official" story is that he had a schedule conflict.  However, Sam has discovered the facts in the issue.  Tom-tom was contacted first, and the forum was set to comply with his schedule.  He backed out after some of his RINO buddies counseled him to avoid the 9.12 group.  Ed Phillipsen came, as did several other candidates.  Sam understands the forum was good, and included questions from the audience that were live and unscripted.

Norton is behaving like a weasel.  He doesn't deserve to be mayor.  Would you elect someone who gave you their word, and then pulled out at the last minute?  Would you elect someone who avoided taking on the tough questions?  Being mayor is an issue of displaying leadership.  Norton cut and ran from controversy.  Sam thinks he is an arrogant, bed-wetting RINO.

Sam also heard that one question was asked about 3A on Saturday night.  Of course Norton wasn't there to answer it, but it was brought out by Phillipsen that Norton chaired the panel that wants the tax increase.  Like so many of the RINOs in the area, Norton ducks and runs, wants $16 million in new taxes (minimum), and does not want to meet with his grassroots constituents.  Its a good thing he doesn't run UNC.  He leaves that job to his wife.  After all, something around here needs leadership he hasn't displayed.

He Will Not Keep His Word

Sam has learned that Tom Norton has purposely backed out on his commitment to the 9.12 group.  He will not show up tomorrow night at their mayoral candidate forum.  Ed Phillipsen will still attend, and Ed Clark will be the keynote speaker.  How interesting.

Tom-Tom Norton can chair a blue-ribbon panel for District 6 that wants $16 million more in taxes.  He can be a state senator under Bill Owen.  But he cannot face a grassroots group of people in Greeley?  Sam hears the stories behind the stories, and knows that various factions have urged Norton to make his appearances with more "liberal" groups.  Perhaps he wouldn't get the "softball" questions he wants.  Perhaps he wouldn't be able to grandstand with the 9.12 group.  Perhaps he doesn't get to run things the way he wants.  Whatever the case, it's a perfect example of what Sam has warned you about with Norton.  He wants to rule, tax, and play the role of power-broker.  He does NOT want to serve you the average person, or else he would have shown up at a truly grassroots forum.  Perhaps you are the "great unwashed," while he is a part of the local "elite."

In the meantime, Ed Phillipsen will still show up.  You can ask him your questions.  And you can chat with Mayor Ed Clark who rescued Greeley from two previous Toms (Selders and Roche).  Given the looks of things we need another Ed; not another Tom.

Alert! Citizens Taking Action!

Sam just heard some refreshing news.  The local Greeley 9-12 group is going to host a Greeley Mayor's Forum.  Why is this refreshing?  Well, Sam has wondered if the 9-12 bunch would merely be angry demonstrators who wave signs and complain, or if they would actually do something.  It seems they are ready to do some productive work and change the complexion of government in the area.

So, here's what Sam has heard.  This mayoral forum is supposed to be Saturday night, September 26th at 7 p.m.  It will be held at Destiny Christian Center, 6250 W. 10th Street.  Hopefully both Tom Norton and Ed Phillipsen will show up.  Sam might be at this one.  It just might be worth attending, to see grassroots people in action.

Someone Is Standing Up

Well, well.  The liberal League of Women Voters is hosting a forum on the tax increase desired by District 6.  It will occur at Farr Library on Wednesday the 23rd from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.  It will begin with a presentation by District 6 that Sam suspects will be strongly partisan in favor of raising taxes.  (The District always wants more; never less.)

Then Ken Whitney and Chalice Springfield will be there to push the vote in favor of 3A.  However, on the other side Amy Oliver and Brett Reese (a candidate for school board) will speak in opposition.  Sam finds it refreshing to have both sides represented.  He also finds it a wonderful thing that Reese is running for school board AND opposes giving the failing district more money.  Sam will probably go and see what happens with the unwashed masses when someone actually stands up for doing what is right for a change!
